About Dr. Vega
Dr. Marisol Vega leads research and editorial strategy at The Calorie Guardian. She holds a PhD in Nutritional Science from the Universidad de Granada, where her dissertation examined measurement error in dietary self-reporting — the exact problem that calorie-tracking apps try to solve.
Before founding the publication, Marisol spent eight years designing nutrition studies and peer-reviewing diet-intervention trials in Madrid. That background shapes how the team tests apps: every claim an app makes is treated as a hypothesis to be measured, not a feature to be listed.
She owns the 10-category scoring rubric and the rule that no app developer ever sees a score before it publishes. When a result is close, Marisol is the person who decides whether the team has enough evidence to call it.
